OHINEMURI. ( FROM OUR OWN COURRESPONDENT.)

P aero a., Friday. A rETiTro^ praying Government to endow the local body with all the powers of a Board of Conservancy with respect to the rivers within this county, is now going the rounds ; and about seventy ratepayers have already signified their approval of the movement by attaching their signatures thereto. A Service of Song entitled " Christie's Old Organ," was performed in the Wesley an Church here on Tuesday evening last, but owing to the nnpropitions state of the weather, the attendance was not so large as it would otherwise have been. The chair was occupied by the Hew Mr Lawry who read the introductory passages, and the service was very effectively rendered by the full force of the church choir. The Rev- Mr Pellow lent valuable assistance with the violin, of which instrument he evidently is a complete master, and Mrs Sill presided at the harmonium playing the accompaniments with her usual good taste. Mr Dellows powerful and highly-cul-tivated baritone voice was heard to considerable advantage in the solo " Not Lost but Gone Before," an.l his singing throughout was really good. Miss Annie -Cock was very successful in her rendering of the solo " Mother's Last Words. ' This joung lady has got a remarkably sweet voice, and only requires a little more confidence to become a good amateur singer.
