December 10. The Cain murder case was re&xirned this murrtiug. The attendance of the public wa« very large, aud great interest \vaß taken itt ihe caso. No doubt that aa many people wcrd attracted by tho fact that Mrs Newcon waa to give evidence as from curios i-.y to see the prisoner. Mr Eeswick pio'udtid on the Bench. Tho prisoner, Ha at former 'sittings, occupied the dock, and was closely guarded by a warder. The counsel were the tame as on previous occasions. The first witness called by Mr White Wiia Joseph John Riskitie, who said : I am a chemist's acsibtant, and was 10 morly in the employ of Mi* Eicoauan. I know the prisoner Thos Hall. Harry Garduer deposed : Sometime at the end of last year I treated a maio belonging to Hall tor influenza. There was nothing tho matter with her eyes with tho exception that she had a cold in them. Geo William Gardner deposed : About the end of last January I saw Hall about routing a house. He said, " I have been naaling enquires about a house, but I don't want to take one really, I expoct Captain Cain will bo dead in a day or t»vo, and then we will geb his house." Jc hn Fraeer said : 1 had a transaction with Hall and Mason. I gave them £300 to invest. Tho money has not been returned to me. The signature " John Fra-er " to this transfer oi a mortgage waa not mine and I never gave the firm ot Hall and Mason or Hall a promissory note. The Court then adjourned till 1 SO, when ' Miss Houston's evidence will be taken.
