Melbourne, December 8 At a meeting to-day, the Dean of Melbourne pr^iding, it was rebolved to carry out the prf/poeal of the British and Foreign Bible Society to commemorate the Queen's Jubilee by presenting every Protesfcant Sv:ato Hchool pupil in Victoria *ith a small Testament bearing Her Majesty's autograph. 240,000 copies willboitquired, and the estimated cost ie £1,350, which is intended to be raised by subscription. The board of management of the Scots Ohuroh have decided to invite the Key Dr. Uameron Lees, of St. Giles's, Edinburgh, or some prominent minister of the Established Church of Scotland, to come to Melbourne and occupy the pulpit of Scots Church for six months. The proposal was brought undei the notice of the Presbytery to-day for sanction, and it is expected that the Presbytery will acquiesce. Peter A. O'Farrell, solicitor, who gained notoriety in 1881 by shooting at the late Archbishop Goold, was arrested to day on a charge of having threatened to take the life of Wm Lane, his brother-in-law. It was alleged that Mr Lane was a trustee under O'Farrell's will, and they recently quarrelled about a settlement. Angry letter? passed between them, and the last from O'Farroll contained the threat complained of. O'Farrell, who is well-known in the city, is 60 years of age.
