It has heen delinitely decided that Mr G. S. Cooper will represent the Colony at the Sheep and Cattle Conference, Sydney. •Mr Cooper will probably leave by the Manapouri on the 17th inst. Blicnheim, Last Night. The flood is rapidly subsiding ; much damage has resulted to footpaths.
At a meeting of the Board of Governors of the high School to-day, Miss M. R. Fo} r, of Tasmania, was appointed lady assistant teacher. She will assume her duties at the beginning of next year. Five other applications were received. A private telegram from Auckland states that information has been laid by Mr Hudson Williamson, at the instance of the Official Assignee inßankruptcy, against Geo. Harcouit, late Deputy Assignee at Thames, and it is said there are several others in reserve. tie left Auckland for Thames by the Enterprise to-night, and -will be brought up at the Police Court to-morrow and remanded. The first charge heard will be for embezzling £75 of the f unds of New Eureka G.M. Co.
