tA !pa«senger who went by the Triumph to Derby , and has. returned <% states that, he consider* there ie nothing whatever yet to justify the rush to Kimberley. ( So far from there being 2,000 men at Darby, there were, only 1990 when, the .Triumph arrived, and probably not more than-, 300, on the field altogether. • He remained at . Derby five daya, and *ays that he did not hear of any largo find of gold, and he consider* that not more than 800ozs have^been taken out altogether from all parts of the field. The reports which havo been circulated have been garbled* inasmuch as only the. good side has been told. Captain McGoe, of the Triumph, brings an account of a meeting at- Derby, on July 10, at which Dr. Lovegrove, r Government , Resident, made a statement on the report given by Sergeant Troa. This report says that several diggers were doing! pretty well at Kimberley, and had made several very remunerative discoveries of gold. Capt, McGee's opinion is that' the field will shortly be a great success. • > • ' > ■■
