GORDON SPECIAL SETTLEMENT.

Arnft much dissapointment at the length of time occupied in having the surrey carried out and the plan of the settlement forwarded ; the members of the abore settlement are at last in a fairway towards taking possession of their regpecti re allotments. In accordance with the announcement by advertisement which appeared in the News, the drawing of allotments came off in the Waiorongomai Public Hall, on Saturday last. On the occasion nearly all members were present, as well as ' many othei local residents, as the success of the settlement is a matter of special interest to the district generally. Mr B. Montague, chairman of the committee in connection with association, presided on the occasion, and made known the arrangements under which

the drawing would be carried out. The survey made, not admitting oi the apportioning of sections exactly as had been intended, it had been arranged that the sections over 100 acres should be given to those* who had applied for 150 acre lots ; sections of 50 acres to 100 acres to those who had applied for 100 acre lots, etc. The following aoted as scrutineers, Messrs Mills, Gillies, Smith, and Ferguson, and the drawing resulted as follows :— -Block VII, Section 16, 150 a.
