♦ In Western Australia there are two single men to every single woman. A verdict of accidental death has been returned in the case of the father and son burned to death at Waikari, Canterbury. The marriageable females in New South Wales are 16.000 in excess of the marriageable males. There is an unusual proportion of medical men in Dublin, and the death rate there is usually higher than that of any other city in the United Kingdom. What about Auckland death-rate and doctors ? ! The world is governed by 12 emperors, 20 kings, 47 princes, 6 grand-dukes, 17 sultans, 12_ khans, 1 viceroy, 28 presidents, and a miscellaneous variety of savage chieftains. During the recent elections in England, a west country vicar thus concluded a Sunday's sermon to his fiock :: — fl And now, friende.^ which is it to be Salisbury, Churchill, and Heaven ; or Gladstone, Chamberlain, and Hell ?"
