Sydney, Mar. IS.— Another fatal colliery accident is reported from The working Eerndalo pit was flooded yesterday. One man is known to havo been di owned, and another ia missing, Sydney, March 19fch. — Another fatal colliery accident is reported from Newcastle, the workings of the Ferndale pit being flooded yesterday, and one man is known to have been drowned, and another is missing. Later. The mine ia utterly ruined, and it is ostimated that the loss in consequence of the Hooding of the pit will amount to fully £30,000. Up to the present time (5 p.m.) the missing ni6n have not been recovered. Sydney, March 23. The German Squadron under command of Admiral Knorr, has left for Auckland. A railway accident occurred yesterday on what is known as the Little Zig Zag portion of the Great Western Railway over the Blue Mountains. Fortunately, no lives were lost, the passengers escaping with gome slight injuries, and a severe shaking. Adelaide, March 19.— The criclcetmatch, Australian Eleven v. Combined Fifteen, continued to-day, the not-outs of yesterday going first to the wickets. The first innings of the Australian Eleven closed tor 422, Palmer scoring 58 before ho was disposed of. The Combined Fifteen then went in, and at the closejof the day's play had Bcored 166 runs, with the loss of five wickets.
K ".ADELAiDE,March 18.— Thematch between the Australian team which is about to proceed to England and a combined fifteen from Australia commenced to-day. The Australian team went in first, and when the stumps were drawn the scores stood at 320 for the Iosb of six wickets The principal scorers were : Jones, 76 ; Jarvis, 52 ; and Palmer, 50, not oat.
Adelaide, March 20. — The match between the Australian representative team and acombined fifteen of Australia was continued to-day. The combined team, who had scored 166 for five wickets on the previous day, continued their innings, and were all disposed of for 245. Being 177 behindhand, they followed their innings, and on the stumps being drawn had secured 162 runs for a loss of three wickets, Houston placing 55 to his credit in the first innings ; Lewis was highest scorer with 69.
Adelaide, March 22.— Proposals are tc be made to the shareholders of the Commercial Bank of South Australia next month, in which provision will be made for the resuscitation of the bank, or its amalgamation with some other establishment. Melbourne, March 18.— A number of ministers of the Presbyterian Church waited upon the Premier, Mr Gillies, to-day, with reference to the probable annexation" of the JNew Hebrides by France, and the deportation of recidivistea to the Pacific Islands. Mr Gillies promised to urge upon the Imperial Government the desirability oi Great Britain annexing the New Hebrides, or to prevent French annexation of the group. The Premier informed the deputa tion that a telegram had been despatched to London inquiring if there was any truth in the rumour that a thousand convicts were to be transported to New Caledonia I this year.
Hobart, March 22. — The typhoid patients have been landed from H.M.S. Diamond, and are now progressing favourably towaids convalescence. The vessel has been released from quarantine.
