SERVIA AND BULGARIA.
Constantinople, December 9. It is understood that Prince Alexander of Bulgaria insists upon the conditions previously demanded by him being agreed to by Seryia. London, December 10. Forty Servian cowards have been shot for having resorted to self-mutilation in order to prevent their taking part in engagements. It is expected that the war between Bulgaria and Servia will be resumed. London, December 13. I Both Bulgaria andServia have invoked jthe aid cf the European Powers with the view ' of effecting a settlement of the hostilities between the two countries, and the Po # era have appointed commissioners to demarcate the zone dividing their territories, and to arrange a four weeks' armistice. Despite this, however, King Milan reports officially to the Powers that the Bulgarian troops made an attack on the Servian outposts yesterday, and in an account of the engagementhe further states that after severe fighting the Servians dislodged the Bulgarians from their position at Velikizvor, killing anl wounding many of their number. The " Times " this morning states that Russia, Austria, and Germany have agreed to abandon the demands recently formulated by them for the restoration of the status quo ante in the Balkan Peninsula. Constantinople, December 14. — The Sublime Porte has despatched an envoy to Sofia, the capital of Bulgaria, in order to confer with Prince Alexander on the present situation. London, December 14. — The telegrams of yesterday's date from the Balkan Peninsula, referring to fighting which is alleged to have taken place at Velikievor,arenow stated to be devoid of truth. Latest advices report that at present hostilities have cea3ed. London, December"ls. The French Government have issued a circular note to the European Powers favouring the union of Bulgaria and Eastern Roumelia under Prince Alexander. The Porte has sent a circular to the Powers inviting them to an entente on the Balkan question.
