Takapuna Jockey Club Spring Meeting.
The Takapuna .Tockay Club Spring Meeting on November 28, proved one of the most successful gatherings yot held on the course All of the events produced excellent contests, and in almost every case resulted in a surprise, therefore large totalieator dividends was the order of the afternoon.

Pipi waa the favourite, but she fell at the lapt hurdlo, but neither horse or rider were injured. Totalisator dividend, £S 18s. Shotover was not brought across, and has been scratched for the Hurdle Kaco.
Little Wonder also started. Victoria shot out a few yards from home, and won on the post by a head

Tim continued to lead the field by about three lengths till a distance from home, when Comet endeavoured to close on him, but without avail, and he had no difficulty in leing landed an easy winner by the distance mentioned. Time, 4min ICHsec. Totalisator dividend, £1S 2s. False Alarm fell at the first hurdle, and his rfder(Fergus) hadhis collar-bone broken. ST. Lennard), and Alfred, aged, 68 1 111b (T. Mcllroy) al^o ran. Betting : 3 to 1 against Cinderella, 4 to 1 Sir Bedivere, 5 to 1 Nannie, 10 to 1 Victoria. After a lob of delay at the post, the lot were despatched to u fair start, of which Nannie had the advantage, and she led past the stand, followed by Kalo, with Victoria, Capella, and Cinderella next in attendance, and Alfred some lengths in the rear, last. At the back of the course, Kalo wrested the lead from Nannie, and Sir Bedivere wai taken up to the leaders; and the trio led past the etapd the second time, with Capella, Victoria, and Cinderella as j their immediate attendants. After going about another 500 yards, Nannie and Capella retired beaten, and Victoria joined Sir Bedivere, and she led into the straight. A good race home ensued, but Victoria always had the best of it, and succeeded in winning by a clear length ; the same distance separating Cinderella from Sir Bedivere. Time, 2min. 46\£sec. Totalisator dividend, £10 18s. FLAT SELLING RACS of 2030v5. The winner to be sold immediately af f.t-r the race. and the whole of the proceed* to co to the Club. No weight under Bst 71*3. 1 mile. Blarney led from the start, and won easily. Totalisator dividend, £2 2s. ANDICAP STEEPLECHASE of SOsovs. Ten soys, out of the stakes to f?o to the second horse. Distance, about 3 miles. Colonel Frasers eh q Quilp, aged, lOst 101b (D. Munn) 1 Mr J. W. Buller's br q Caoutchouc, aged, 9st 101b (G. Hope) 2 Mr D. Harford'B eh q Hawthorn, aged, list 4lb (Warren) 3 Reform, aged, list 71b (J. Rao) ; Julia Ann, aged, lOst 101b (Frewin) ; Lazarus, 6yrs, 9st 71b (D. Taylor); Falso Alarm, syrs, 9st 71b (E. Williams) ; Tim, aged, 9st 71b (T. Hodson) also ran. Betting : 5 to 2 against Caoutchouc, 2 to 1 Reform, 5 to 1 Hawthorn, 8 to 1 Quilp. After the flag had dropped, Caoutchouc and Quilp were the quickest to chow in front, with Julia Ann third, and Reform lying last. In this order they raced round the course, but ascending thy hill for the first time. Quilp led the field, where soon afterwards False Alarm baulked and was not persevered with. By the time the water jump was reached, Julia Ann was in front, and she negotiated the obstacle, closely followed by Quilp and Tim, the rest in Indian file. On the course proper, Quilp again took up the running, and he led the field at a strong bat up the hill the eecond time, with Hawthorn, Tim, and Julia Ann as his immediate attendants, Caoutchouc and Reform coining next. All got over the water jump with the exception of Tim, who was pulled up. Going round the course, Caoutchouc commenced to close on the leaders, and ascending the hill for the last time he was close on Quilp'a quarters, Hawthorn being third, Julia Ann fourth, and Reform fifth. Quilp swerving after getting over the water jump, Caoutchouc was the first to land on the course proper, and a great race was then fought out between the pair to the finish, Quilp just managing to squeeze homo by a head, Hawthorn being a length away third, and Julia Ann fourth. Totalisator dividend, £13 125. , x L £5,704 went through the totahsator during the afternoon.
