Last night Te Kooti and hip followers met Mr Ballance in the Public Hall, when Te Kooti made the Minister a formal presentation of a handsome dogskin mat and whalebone mere, accompanied by a congratulatory address on behalf of his people. Mr Ballance thanked him for his kind expression towards him, and in a lengthy speech referred to the intentions of the Government with regard to the natives.
