The body of the young man William Unyon wu', recovered on Bunduy last- by a party engaged in searching lor it.. (Since the time of the accident, no effort lias been spared to lind the body, diligent search being made wHh grappling irons and such oth'M 1 appliances as were suitable and available for the purpose. A. number of resident's having come ward each day to assist in the search, and great credit is due to Captain Synis, who could not have done more were the young man his own son. It must be remembered that Captain Syms was at considerable loss by keeping the s.s. Huia idle and remaining here with his engineer from Friday to 1 uesday, and we gladly boar record to tho fact that all through Captain Syms Spared himself in no way, aud did fill that ib was possible for him to do under the distressing circumstances. Sergeant Emerson too was indefatigable in his efforts ass.ste ', is already stated by nunurons local friends. On recovery tne body was ot'oug'.it to Tfl Aroha and couveyed to Warren's Hotel, where every kind attention was s.iown by Mr ami Mrs Warren, ,and' it was soon neatly en-
shrouded and lai ! in a snitnblo coffin with ninny flowers placed by kind bands in the absenc of any re'utioMs of the deceased. J)y > aniito was uscid during the search on Hun lay, and no doubt it was duo to its disturbing influence that the body was nfterw.ards ciught by the grappling irons, as the spot where it was found had been frequently dragged previously, the water is some fifteen feet deep at this place, and numerous holes exist in the bed of th« river. The corpse bore a most natural appearance, so much so that it ivns at first difficult to realise that the vital spark had' indeed fled, and that the closed eyes would never moro open upon the th nys of this "world. The face wore a most pl;ieid and peaceful oxpres.-ion, and one mi^ht easily have supposed the poor fellow was only sleeping.
