The party, w Inch consists of six men, has left here for New Guinea. Sydxkv, March 2S. — Great distress continues to be felt in the north-w cstern portion of this colony o\v ing to the want of rain, and fiightful reports have recently come to hand from the Gunnedah districts, -where the long-continued drought K resulting in the destruction of immense numbers of sheep and cattle. Brisbane, March 27. — The trial of the " Brisbane Courier " for the publication of alleged libel& upon members of the Legislative Assembly, in an article commenting upon the proceedings of the Elections and Qualifications Committee, will commence on the 5th proximo.
