SOIREE AT PAEROA.

A soiree and concert, in aid of the funds of the Wesleyan Church, was held in the Paeroa Public Hall on Wednesday evening bst. Although the weathor was not all that could be desired, there was a good attendance. Tea was on the table at & p.m.;-fchere being three large tables twice filled with people. After tea was over, the hall was cleared in readiness for the concert, which commenced at 7.30. The Eev. Mr Marshall occupied the chair. The opening Anthem " Thine, 0 Lord," by the Choir, was well rendered throughout. The solo, " Resignation," was sung with pleasing effect by Miss Rollerson. An address was then delivered by the Rev. Mr Barley (Primitive Methodist), followed by the duet " Gathering Shells" by the Misses Perry, which was very nicely sung, and was warmly applauded. The solo " Little Sweetheart come and kiss me," by Miss Mary Cocks was encored. After this an address was delivered bv the Rev. Mr Bull. Quartette," Wonderful Words," was given by Misses Rollerson and Vercoe, and Messrs Barley and Brame, Mr Ashby presiding at the harmonium. Address by the Rev. Mr Adams. Solo and chorus, " Some day I'll Wander back again," by the Choir. The Rev. Mr Bull proposed, and the Rev. Mr Adams seconded, a vote of thanks to the ladies, for the able manner in which they had presided at the tables. Carried unanimously. Mr Mitchell then gave a short addresp. Mr Phillips said a few words, very appropriate to the occasion. The programme was brought to a close by the Rev. Mr Bull pronouncing the Benediction.
