STARTLING MEMO RAND UM FROM THE COMPTROLLER.
The Comptroller-General has laid on the table of the House a memorandum protesting against the action of the Government in drawing L 192,000 from public account on the 31st of May, the last day on which payments were authorised, and placing it in the Commissioners bauds as imprest against expenditure till Parliament met The Comptroller considers this a breach of the spirit of the law, and open to graveabuse.
VOTE OF CENSURE. ! Immediately on the House meeting to- 1 day Montgomery intimated his intention j of moving a vote of censure on th< j Government in connection with the Comp-troller-General's memorandum, and asked Major Atkinson to bring on Committee of Supply at once in order to emible this to be done. Major Atkinson replied that h< wonld bring on Supply as the first order of ihe day, immediately that the preliminary business was transacted.
