CROSS DIVORCE CASE. By Cable. — Pren J.»*ociation. — Copyright. SYDNEY, December 7. The petition for the restitution of conjugal rights in the Cross divorce ease was dismissed. [William Alfred Joseph Cross sought restitution of conjugal rights from Elizabeth Eleanor Cross. Petitioner, who twiee during the War won the I).CM., gave evidence that he had been a lay reader, but eventually became ordained. The differences arose through his wife being a Homan Catholic, and he an Anglican. He had given, her no cause to refuse to live with lilm, but admitted that under extreme provoca- | tion he had struck her. Respondent gave evidence that at one time they had lived in 1 Duneuin, where her husband acted a* lay reader, and subsequently was ordained. From New Zealand, they went to Sydney, Witness said her husband frequently left her without money or food, and on many occasions he had cruelly treated her. She, however, was willing to live with her husband if he treated her as a wife and not as a slave, and discontinued his illtreatment. |
