WAR REGULATIONS.
BREACH ON WATEBFBONT. Pr«M Association, WELLINGTON, December 7. The incident concerning the steamer Calm, which caused a hold-up on the Wellington wharf recently, was mentioned at the monthly stop-work meeting of the Seamen's Union to-day. According to the official report of the proceedings, the Minister of Labour (Hon. Sir William Herrios), in a letter replying to representations made, admitted that the Wellington employers of waterfront labour had committed a technical breach of the War Bcgulations. However, the regulations were meant to apply only to the War period, and no action would bo taken against the employers. ! The meeting passed a motion embodying this reply, and requesting the Minister to state whothor ho would adopt the same course in regard to any breach of the regulations which might be committed by the workers in tho future. A telegram from Auckland states that Sir Arthur Conan Doyle delivered his first lecture on Spiritualism in the Town Hall last night. The building was crowded, and Sir Arthur held the I largo audience in the grip of his earnest- , ness throughout the evening. He dealt i at length with tho result of his personal investigations into the realms of Spiritualism. Sir Arthur gives his final lecture there to-day.
