TO-DAY'S CASKS. Mr S. E. McCarthy, S.M., presided at the Magistrate's Court this morniug. Drunkenness.—A (list offender for drunkenness was fined hi default 2-t hours' imprisonment. A statutory llrst offender, similarly charged, was tlned £l, in default seven days' imprisonment. Francis McCluskcy, a second offender, was lined £2, in default seven days' Imprisonment. Indecent Language. —William John Owens was charged with drunkenness, and with using obscene language in a public place. He pleaded guilty to both charges. For obscene language, ha was sentenced to one month's imprisonment, with hard labour. On the other count ho was convicted and discharged. Charges of Theft.—George McCarthy, for whom Mr C. S. Thomas appeared, was charged with having, on October 17, 1920, obtained the sum of 11/11} from one, Blacklock, of Wellington, on terms requiring him to pay same to the New Zealand Automatic Bakeries, Ltd., and having failed to account for same. He was further charged with the theft of a watch, valued at £G, the property of Geo. Greening. On the application of Chief-Dotectivc McIlveney, a remand until December 1 wus granted. Ball was allowed in the sum of 150, and two sureties of £25, or one surety of £SO. CIVIL BUSINESS. Undefended Cases.—Judgment by default was granted the plaintiffs In each of the following cases:—J. and A. W. Munuings v. Win. Thomas, £1 12/'-; Dominion Motors, Ltd. v. G. A. Oakley, £137 11/1; J. P. Elliott v. Robert Leggctt Kara:liana, £7 2/6; Andrew Lees, Ltd. v. 11. A. Saggers, fi/2. Judgment Summons,—Arthur Arbuckle Napier was ordered to pay T. C. Breen (Mr | J. It. Cunlngham) the sum of £l6 0/2, on a Judgment summons, in default two months' imprisonment. (Before Mr E. C. Lcvvey, S.M.) A Claim for Fees. —Sarah Emily Clarkson, widow, and Ernest Webster Waller, timber merchant, both of Christchurch, executors of the ulll of W. A. I'. Clarkson, late of Christchurch, architect, deceased (Mr C. S. Thomas), proceeded against Henry Berrv and Co., Christchurch, merchants (Mr A. j. Flcsher), claiming the sum of £lB5 13/-, architect's fees in preparing sketch plans of proposed buildings of the defendants, situate in Wakefield Street, Wellington, including the approximate estimate of cost and expenses of the late Mr Clarkson In Wellington in connection with the foundations of these i\ml adjoining buildings.
