BUILDERS' CONFERENCE.
TO-DAY'S PROCEEDINGS.
The annual conference of the New Zealand Federated Builders' and Contractors' Association of Employers concluded its sittings to-day, the president, Mr H. Mainland, being in the chair. The question of immigration of skilled workers was again considered, doubts being expressed as to trade prospects if too many men were brought to the country.—lt was decided to take no action, as the Government's policy was considered sufficient for the purpose.
The proposal to appoint a Dominion organiser was discussed.—lt was decided to leave the matter in the hands of the executive, to confer with local associations and to report in three months' timer-
It was decided to hold the next conference in Invercasgill. The matter of increasing the annual levy on members was referred to the executive to deal with. The election of officers for the ensuing year resulted as follows:—President, Mr H. Mainland (Wellington); vice-president, Mr A. Grayson (Auckland); treasurer, Mr W. I. Clark (Wellington); executive: Messrs W. H. Bennett, A. M. Wilson and A. H. Mildenhall (Wellington); secretary, Mr W. A. W. Grenfell (Wellington); auditors. Messrs G. Dick and J. C. Brown (Wellington); representative on New Zealand Employers' Federation Advisory Board, Mr H. Mainland (Wellington); representative on Employers' Parliamentary Committee, Mr W. H. Bennett (Wellington.).
