LOSS OF GLENDALOUGH.
CAPTAIN AND OWNER ARRESTED
By Cable. — Press Association. — Copyright. (A. & N.Z.) LONDON, October 29., William James Jones and Captain Plummer have been arrested on a charge of attempting to defraud the underwriters.
[Recently the Board of Trade Commission of Inquiry into the loss of the Glendalough, near Belfast Lough, delivered Its judgment in the Cardiff Court, and found that the disaster was due to the wilful act of Captain Plummer, acting in concert with William James Jones, the owner, who had insured the vessel for £60,000, though the total value, including the cargo, was only £17,000. The judgment remarked that "Jones recklessly and wickedly, gambled, Inot only for money, but in the lives of men." He was ordered to pay the costs of the inquiry, amounting to £2500. Plummer's certificate was cancelled, and the evidence was forwarded to the Public Prosecutor, with a view to- bringing the alleged criminals to justice.]
