LINVVOOD CUB. Mr W. 1.. King presided at the annual meeting of members of the I.ln wood District Cricket Club last evening, there being a fair attendance of members. The annual report stated that the membership had been increased by the return of a great many cricketers from active service. The first grade team last season fell below the usual form shown, bul the three Junior teams played well. It was suggested that the club should in future be known as the l.inwood Cricket Club, with headquarters at Lancaster Park. The balancesheet showed receipts £SO 8 2, and expenditure £SB 18 10. The report and balance-sheet were adopted, speakers expressing themselves optimistically In regard to the future of thu dub. Six new members were elected, and officers for the ensuing Year were elected as follow.—President, Mr I'. S. Wilding; vicepresidents, Messrs VV. \V. Keighlev mid C. M. OUlvler; captain, Mr \V. L. King; secretary and treasurer, Mr A. Grant; assistant secretary, Mr ti. Russell; auditor, Mr A. li. Salvcsen; committee, Messrs E. Weston, C. Orchard, A. W. Thomas, E. Taylor, K. Perrln, N. Jones, and P. Lye; delegate to Sports Protection Association, Mr K. Perrin; delegates to the Canterbury Cricket Association, Messrs A. Grant, E. Taylor, G. Russell, and W. L. King; selectors, Messrs 11. Forsyth, K. Perrln. and P. Kleetc. A vote of appreciation of the services to the club of Mr 11. Forsyth wtis recorded. SYDENHAM CLUB. The annual meeting of the Sydenham Cricket Club was held last evening, Mr J. Merrimnn being in the chair. The annual report disclosed an unsatisfactory financial position, owing to many members failing to recognise their responsibilities. Despite the fact that all cricket material had Increased lu price enormously members' subscriptions had not been raised. The club's first grade team came second In the competitions, Its position being largely due to the splendid lead given by the skipper, \V, R. Patrick, who, although not approaching his great form of the previous season, was a long Vliy above any of his club mates 111 averages. The second grade It team won Its competition in very good style, the best performer being .1. Martin, The A team's record was not good, but tho team was severely handicapped by many players failing to attend games regularly. Of those who did play regularly, Coomber was again very successful. The third grade team also suffered through the irregularity of members' attendance. 1.. Columbus wis the best all-round performer in the third grade team. In moving the adoption of Ihe report and balance-sheet, the chairman said that If all members worked together loyally the club would have an assured I'ulure. Mr Skelton, the secretary, and Mr W. 11. Winsor, treasurer, 'had performed yeoman service for the club. The thanks of members were due to the caretaker, Mr .1. Holmes. Officers fur the ensuing year were elected as follows: Patron, Dr 11. S. Stephens) delegates to Canterbury Cricket Association, Messrs W. 11. Winsor, W. Skelton, M. O'Mallcy and J. Gray; delegate to Sports Protection Association, Mr W. Skelton; auditors, Messrs T. Wiltshire and .1. Merrhnan; selectors, Mr .1. Cray and captains of teams. Upon the motion of Mr W. R. Patrick, the senior subscription was raised to t'2 5/-, reducible to £2, and junior subscriptions were raised by 2/0 all round. A motion of appreciation of the servlcea of Mr J. Jacobs, scorer for the senior team, who has left Christchiirch, was carried.
