The Sumner Borough Council mot last evening, there being present: -The Mayor i (the Hon. J. Burr, M.L.C.), Crs C. M. liosIwcll, F. Gill, C. Benjamin, 11. .1. Yates, \V. fi. Black, 11. C. Jamicson and T. li. Whitfield. The Standing Committee reported that heavy seas had damaged the sea wall at ' Bell's boat harbour. Or Whittleld complained of the condition in which the roads or the borough hail been left by the Cliristc.liurc.li Tramway Hoard's employees alter work bad been'done on them. The Mayor {who is also chairman of the Christchurch Tramway Board) explained that the roads had to be cleaned up as soon as the repairs were effected. The board was, at present, at a loss for road rollers, as a result of the War. However, two new rollers had been ordered from Australia, nnd they were expected at nil early date. The work hnd also been hindered through the alteration in the method of road making
