Advice has been received front the Board cf Trade that a shipment of raw sugar maybe distributed in Christchurch next week. This is taken to mean that the raw sugar will he made available if operations at the refinery at Auckland do not commence this week. Samples to hand show the sugar to be of good quality and really suitable f:r table purposes. It will be a boon to confectionery manufacturers, several of whom have now- suspended operations. It is probable that unless there is relief soon a number of pastrycooks will also close down temporarily.
