It was decided, on the recommendation of the Appointments Committee, that the steps taken in July, 1919, to have Dominion examinations substituted for those of the City and Guilds should be followed up by a letter to the Minister of Education asking what has since been done in the matter. It has also been mnje a subject for discussion at the forthcoming conference of managers and directors. A grant of £lO to the Technical College Cricket Club' was authorised. The director (Dr D. E. Hansen 1 and teaching staff were congratulated on the highly satisfactory nature of the report of the department's organising inspector, which reflected great credit on them. Mr H. R. Rusbridge was appointed vicechairman for the ensuing year. The director reported that no serious amount of illness had been prevalent among the students up to the time, the second term had ended. The health of Ihe boarders at the hostel had also been satisfactory. The majority of the teaching staff, however, had suffered from illness during the term. The attendance at the evening classes showed a substantial increase in every department over the attendances for the former term, and a still greater one over the second term last year. The attendance at the Technical High School was slightly less than for the corresponding month last year. The engine at the shearing shed had been overhauled and put in order for the classes in shearing, which were expected to commence about the end of September or the beginning of October. A number of entries for the classes had already been received, and the importance of taking up blade shearing had been impressed on intending students. The report was adopted.
