RIOTING IN DUBLIN.
SERIOUS STREET AFFRAYS! ATTACKS ON SOLDIERS. Bv Cable. — Vrrss Association. — Copyright. (A. & X.Z.) LONDON. Auk. 15. Saturday night's rioting in Dublin lasted from 8.30 o'clock till 11 o'clock. It was evidently prearranged, and is understood to be a reprisal for the death of Farrell, the man who was shot by soldiers last weqk while standing near a bonfire lighted in honour of Archbishop Mannix. Assaults on soldiers occurred in several parts of the city, parties of civilians waylaying soldiers in the streets, and raiding tram-cars, from which soldiers were dragged and thrown on the ground and kicked. One was thrown into the River Liffey but was rescued. The military authorities sent out patrols in an armoured car which restored order after firing several volleys in the air. Meanwhile, parties of soldiers returned to Ihe assault, using their belts. One party formed across Dame Street and swept the roadway clear with their belts. Another broke out of barracks carrying entrenching tools, and chased the crowd until ordered to desist. An armed attack was made on a military guard in Upper Castleyard. The picket returned the fire, but there were no casualties.
