With a view to the reconstruction of the Colombo Street railway crossing in a permanent manner, it was reported at last evening's meeting of the Christehureh City Council that the District Railway Engineer had been communicated with, it being suggested that a conference be held between the District Engineer, the engineer of the Christehureh Tramway Hoard and tho City Surveyor. The attention of the District Engineer had also been drawn to the bad condition of the crossing, and a request made that something should be done immediately to improve it.
