TROUBLE ON WHARVES.

STOPPAGE AT WELLINGTON. »|Spfcial to The Sun.] WELLINGTON, August 9. The dispute that caused the stoppage of work on the Wellington wharves to-day is one of long standing. The waterside workers object to waiting the convenience of emplovers in bad weather. Hain was falling to-dav at 8 a.m., the usual time for engaging labour, and the employers made no call. The weather had improved an hour later, and a call was made, but no labour oflered. The two o'clock call was also fruitless. The men had agreed that, as they were not engaged at 8 o'clock they would not accept work for the rest of the day. their argument being that thev will not wait upon the wharves in* wet weather m thenown time. . i The point is of considerable importance, and will have to be considered by the employers. WORK RESUMED. Tress Association. I Work was resumed on the Wellington water-front to-day.
