OPAWA TEAMS.
To the Editor of THE SUN. I Sir, —I am glad to see the suggestion of one of your correspondents that the Opawa tram line should run via Fals- ! grave Street instead of via Colombo Street, as I am certain that the former I route would be considerably shorter j and would entail far less wear and , tear on the rolling stock. Perhaps tho I Tramway Board would enlighten tho I residents of Opawa as to tho reason tho | Colombo Street route was decided on in the first place! As a regular rider on the Opawa cars I can state without fear of contradiction that the passengers which are picked up at Madras Street (which is the only stopping placo between Waltham Road and the Supply Stores) are practically nil and yet both the Opawa and St. Martin’s ears run over this route. The board should taka a record of the number of passengers picked up at Madras Street during the week aiTd I think this would open their eyes and prove my statement. I understand that the board propose raising the fares, but I would like to point out to them before this is decided on that Opawa residents are entitled to a reduction instead of an increase. Could the general manager supply, through the medium of your paper, the length cf all the threepenny sections? In order to make the threepenny section from Opawa long enough, Opawa residents may travel from Opawa to Kilmore Street for this sum. We do not want this; we want our section to end at the Square and then it should not ba more than a twopenny section. Tho twopenny section on the Woolston line terminates at Smith Street, which is. equal to past Ensor’s Road op tho Opawa line. What Opawa wants is their tram to run up Palsgrave Street and what they arc entitled to is a twopenny section from Opawa to tho Square. Might I also suggest to the board that they take a trip to Opawa in one of the trailers. From Wilson’s Road to the terminus they will be enlightened as to the state of the permanent way. —I am, etc., REGULAR RIDER.
