ROYAL RACE MEETING.
The Canterbury Jockey Club has! finally decided upon the following pro-! gramme for the Royal Race Meeting to' be held during the' visit of the Prince i of Wales to Christcliurch —Welcome; Hurdle Handicap of 500 sovs, one mile! and three-quarters; Renown Steeple-1 chase Handicap of 750 sovs, two miles , and a-half; Marlborough Stakes of 1250 sovs, weight for age (for two-year-! olds and upwards), no penalties, one mile; Roval Handicap of 1250 sovs, one' mile and a-half; Cornwall Handicap. (hack conditions) of COO sovs, one mile I and a-quarter; Sandringham Welter Handicap of 500 sovs, minimum weight j 7.7, one mile. This provides for the: distribution of £4850 in stake money. I Originally it was intended to include a valuable trotting race on the pro-j gramme, but, as in the committee's csti-1 mation, there has been a diversity of, Opinion amongst the various trotting clubs and those interested in the sport, I the trotting race has been cut out.
