It is ileasing, however, that colts have igured well, on the whole, especially n batting. Of the first 10 places in he batting averages,' five are filled by ■olts. The most successful bowler of he season is J. McEwin, the young Sydenham trundler, who has taken 47 vickets at 12.55 runs each. R. Bead, if Linwood, has taken the samo number of wickets, but at a greater cost, "n number of wickets captured, C. E. Evans, of Riccarton,,comes next, with 10, and D. McK. Sandman, of St. Allans follows with 39. The bowling iverages which are appended are not dainied to be absolutely accurate. So nany score books have been kept caiecssly by clubs this season that it has lot been possible always to obtain the rue bowling figures. Those which are *iven are as nearly accurate as it is lossiblc to get them. The following are the batting avoriges of players who have played four nnings or more in first grade competition matches, and the bowling averiges of players who have taken 10 wickets or more:— RATTING.
