The president's annual report slated that, there were eight council meetings held during the year. Things had resumed their normal condition since the upheaval of the War years. The committee looked forward to the returned nurses taking an interest again in the affairs of the association, and to helping forward any scheme advanced for the nurses' benefit. During the year, five general members had joined, and four maternity members. Only one member had resigned from the association. Miss .Havward had resigned from the council, but retained her membership. Miss Newman had carried on both the position of honorary secretary and treasurer, to the entire satisfaction of everyone. The Nurses' Memorial Fund continued to grow, and filled a longfelt want, but, while admitting its usefulness, the association was still anxious to see superannuation given to all nurses as a right, instead of as a benevolence. The Central Council met on October
29, in Chrislehurch. Various questions were discussed, the principal one being the raising of nurses' fees. The expenditure had not been heavy for the year, and tlie balance-sheet was a little more satisfactory, owing to ninny outstanding subscription:* being paid. The committee would be glad if all arrears were sent in, so as to allow of beginning the new year with a clear sheet. The balance-sheet showed a credit balance of o>6 1/9, both being adopted on the motion of Dt Manning, seconded by Miss Stewart. The following officers were elected: — President, Miss Hood; vice-presidents, .Missis Muir and Mulcock; secretary and treasurer, Mis.s Newman; council, Misses Houston, Mcßn.e, Ingles, Dobson, Pike and Osborne; doctors, 'Mrs 11. T. 1). A.land. .1. Guthrie, A. .1. Orchard, and Ij. S. ..Manning. This concluded the formal part of the meeting, the remainder of the time being devoted to proceedings of a social nature.
