The Municipal Finance Conunitec discussed a proposal to vote £SOOO to entertain the Prince of Wales. Some Aldermen considered the proposed sum miserly, compared with what Melbourne was doing. The opposition of one of the Labour representatives to voting any of the ratepayers' money for the purpose was so strongly expressed that it eventually led to his being conducted out. No decision was reached.
