ALLIANCE SURVIVES TEST.

At the conclusion of the meeting of the Labour Triple Alliance, it was officially announced that the Alliance had emerged stronger than ever. A resolution was carried congratulating the railwaymen on their light, but instructing the Alliance Committee in future to summon the three executives if any union fails to secure its demands. [Recently-expressed differences of opinion regarding strike policies had led to an expectation of serious trouble when the Triple Alliance met, and it was rumoured that the breaking up of the Alliance was probable. The miners and transporters complained that the railwaymen rendered the direct action weapon useless, and wrecked the nationalisation plans. The chief quarrel between Mr J. H. Thomas and Mr Williams arose over Mr Williams's public condemnation of the railway strike.]
