THE CABLE SERVICE.
NOT YET BACK TO NORMAL. By Cable. — Press Association. — Copyright. Renter's Telegrams. (Bee. Nov. 29, 11.35) LONDON. Nov. 25. In the House of Commons Sir W. H. Cowan said that the cables from Australasia were now rarely transmitted without mutilation, necessitating repetitions. The Bt. Hon. A. Illingworth (Post-master-General) replying, said that the pressure on the cables that existed in the War time had not yet ceased. The risk of error in transmission exceeded the normal. There was no reason to think that the percentage of errors had greatly increased. The cable authorities concerned were making every effort to improve both the accuracy and rapidity.
