Ladies and Gentlemen,For the past seven years I have filled the office of Mayor of this city and been a member of most of the local authorities in Christchurch and, having ample evidence that my services have met with general appreciation, I have consented to become a candidate for the Christchurch South seat in Parliament. Briefly, my platform includes : A United British Empire. Preferential Trade within the Empire. Settlement of disputes constitutionally. Immediate suppression of profiteering and reduction in the cost of living. Adequate grants for education. Speedy completion of unfinished railways. Cheap hydro-electric-ity. Nationalised ferry service. Readjustment in tax- P>* ation according to ability to pay. More lands thrown open for soldier and civilian settlement. Prevention of land aggregation. Limiting profits. I will support all measures for the betterment of the people as a whole, and I will give my undivided attention to the Christchurch South Constituency. Public Meetings.—December Ist, Coronation Hall, Spreydon; Brougham Street Schoolroom, December 2nd. Thanking you for past support, and soliciting a continuance, Yours faithfully, Independent Liberal Candidate.
