Furniture Showroom Father Christmas, who arrived in Christchurch yesterday with much ceremony, is now comfortably settled in his new abode at the D.I.C. Here he will remain until Christmas Eve, glad to be with old and new friends, whom he will receive each and every day. Near his throne are many items of interest and value. To his right, the MAGIC CAVE, with all its wonders, which to describe would fill a book. To his left, one of the largest Toy Eazaars in the Dominion, crowded from floor to ceiling with Toys and Fancy Goods, specially displayed for the big Christmas trade which is now fast increasing in volume. In front of him are many "all-one-price" tables, laden with toys at 6d, 9d, 1/- and 2/-, where the problem of what to give and how much to spend is easily solved. On the same floor, only a few steps away, is the famous Furniture Showroom of the D.I.C, from which hundreds of happy homes have found their origin. Father Christmas is not too busy to make suggestions for seasonable giving. Kis advice is, '' Give something practical— Furniture for preference." There are Easy Chairs, Morris Chairs, Settees, Palm Stands, Occasional Tables, Fire Screens, Newspaper Holders, Secretaires, Stools. There are also Carpet Squares, Rugs for Bedside and Hearth, Cushions, Table Covers, Curtains. Then, again, Brassware and Copper Ware in Vases, Bowls and Ornaments, Electroplated Ware, Mops, Carpet and Vacuum Sweepers, Pictures, and hosts of other articles which cannot be called to mind, but which can be seen upon visiting the D.I.C. lyt complete £1 RETURNED SOLDIERS wishing to negotiate their Repatriation and Patriotic Grants will receive generous treatment at the D.I.C. The Cash Discount of 1/- in each complete £ is weU worth having, providing as it does many small articles perhaps not otherwise possible.
