The cricket match between the Canterbury representatives and the Colts, which was to have been played to-day, lias been postponed until next Friday (Show Bay), at 10 a.m. At the Oxford Terrace, Baptist Church to-morrow night the Bev. .). J. North will preach a special sermon on "Commercial Morality." lie will deal with the question of whether there are tricks in every trade. A Press Association message from Dunedin states that a branch of the New Zealand Bank Officers' Guild was formed last night. It was also resolved that a meeting be held to protest against any attempt to bring them under the scope of the Conciliation and Arbitration Act. A meeting of the Christchurch Tunnel Road Committee was held in the Chamber of Commerce yesterday afternoon, for the purpose of considering the position, when it was decided to proceed with the organisation and to hold another meeting as soon as the report was received as to the survey and estimated cost. The Telegraph Office has been notified that cable messages for France must be in plain language or in one of the codes authorised for use during the War. Each message must contain a signature, and tne name of the code must be marked and signalled in the instructions. No private code is allowed.
The Railway Department advertises in this issue the train arrangements in connection with the races and show in Christchurch next week. On November 15 and 17 a fast express train will leave Christchurch for Dunedin at 8.45 a.m., arriving in Dunedin at 4.58 p.m. Passengers should travel by this train, as the 12.25 p.m. express train will not have room for all. On the main south line and branches and on the main north line and branches, changes have been made in the ordinary time-table. The South Island draft, ex the troopship Paparoa, arrived this morning in Christchurch. For Christchurch and surrounding districts there were 21 men, 10 wives and three children; North Canterbury, eight men; South Canterbury, eight men; and West Coast, one man and one wife. Sergeant-Major G. Guilleford was in charge of the draft. For Otago there were 40 men, 20 wives and three children. The Christchurch men were met by cars, supplied by the Canterbury Automobile Association, and conveyed to their respective homes. An important fixture for Carnival Week will be the Peace Reunion and Dinner, to be held by the Christ's College Old Boys' Association (Inc.) in the Art Gallery on the evening of Show Day, Friday, November 14. The function is being promoted by the association as an official welcome to all old boys who have been on active service, and a large gathering is expected. The president of the association, Mr K. S. Williams, of Tokomaru Bay, will preside, and proceedings will commence at 7.30 p.m. Tickets may be obtained from any member of the committee or from the secretary, Mr E. Hamilton, 213 Manchester Street.
