3 At its annual meeting in 1917 the Canterbury Automobile Association 3 rfl decided to ask members to find the necessary funds for the purchase of jjj H a motor-car for the sole use of the returned soldiers in,the Chalmers jjj Jn Military Hospital and other institutions in Christchurch, and to make a jy Jn levy of 5/- per member to nelp in meeting the cost of upkeep of the car. s] D| The car which was purchased is illustrated above. It went into com- Jg D, mission in November, 1917. Up to October 31, 1919, the car had made . Uj 5j 437 trips, running 16,334 miles-and carrying 2584 soldiers, in addition to K q| doing a large amount of Bed Cross and influenza epidemic work. K
