PIGEON FLYING.
The Canterbury Pigeon Flying Club flew off their first race of the season from Kaitoki on Saturday, October 18. One hundred and seventy-three birds were sent, divided amongst 21 owners competing. The birds were liberated by the stafionnuister at 9.30 a.m. in line weather, with a sou'-cast wind which changed to a light nor'-easter at the
home cud. The birds put up fairly fast . times? very little time dividing the first six lofts. The winners turned out to he Woodhouse Bros.' Blantyrc Lass, which flew the distance of 221 miles 1118 yards air-line in shr Omin 55scc, with a velocity of 1258 yds per minute. Following is the order in which | they finished:—Woodhousc Bros.'
