I The Rokcby School Committee cxI pects to open a school in a Moored marquee on Tuesday next. It is considered (writes The Sux's Rakaia correspondent) that some little time must ! elapse before the rebuilding of the school is commenced, as the matter has [to be referred to the Education Department. At Durham Street Methodist Church to-morrow evening, the Permanent Honour Roll of the Church will be unveiled by Mr L. M. Isitt, M.P., who will also deliver a suitable eulogium. The roll contains the names of 115 men, 25 of whom made the supreme sacrifice for King and .country. The church will be fittingly decorated, and Mr Rex Harrison will sing Haydn's "Spirit Song" and "Thou'rt Passing Hence, My Brother" (Sullivan). The architects for the new Returned Soldiers' Club rooms, Messrs J. S. and M. J. Guthrie, are now receiving tenders for its erection. The final plans show that the building, which will be erected on the site of the Hon. C. Louisson's residence in Gloucester Street, will be a handsome affair. It will contain a large concert hall, offices, reading, writing, card ami billiards rooms, and there will also be a refreshment room, kitchen, servery, bathrooms, and lavatories. In addition, there will be a flat roof, where the men may sit in the warm weather, and a large bicycle shed. Owing to the shortage of building materials, it is not known whether the new premises will be available before next March. A feature will be that the present garden, which is excellently laid out, will be retained.
