AUSTRALIAN J.C.'S AUTUMN MEETING. By Cable—Press Association—Covy-igM. SYDNEY, May 19. The weather was dull and showery for the second day of the Australian Jockey Club's autumn meeting, and the going was heavy. There was a fair attendance. Biplane started in the Flying Handicap after a long absence from racing, and ran well in the early stages, but the big burden oi 10.3, and racing in the mud, spoiled his chances, the lightweights having the advantage. Biplane finished fourth. Nightwatch was sent out favourite for the Sydney Cup, with Finmark also heavily supported. The latter ran prominently to the bend, and eventually finished sixth. Snub was never dangerous. Lan 'Or swamped the opposition in the last furlong, and gave McNamara the winning double ride, as he also won the Doneaster Handicap on Hem on Saturday. WANGANUI TRAINING NOTES. Press Association. ■ WANGANUI, May 20. There was steady rain throughout the night, but the weather was fine for training operations this morning. Zola did a round of the schooling (hurdles, jumping well. Whiro and .Seadown were associated over the hurdles, finishing together, as did Euripos and Lochella. Arlington, Yellow and Black, and Coal'iion jumped the big fences. Arlington fell at the third obstacle. The other two gave a good display, finishing together. Bernice pleased by a display over five hurdles. Risingham beat Tressida over a mile, the last seven furlongs being run in lmin 33sec.
