DOMAINS BOARD.

ANNUAL MEETING.

The annual meeting of the Chrlstchurch Domains Board was held yesterday afterTioonj there being present—Messrs H. J. Beswick (chairman), W. Nichoils, A. W. Owles, C. W. Hervey, J. F. Scott, W. H. Winsor, McGregor B. Wright,*E. J. Howard, A. A, 'McKellar, H. Eaglesome and H. Holland.

Mr H. J. Beswick was re-elected chairman of the board for the ensuing year. In returning thanks the chairman regretted very much the absence of several members of the old board, some of whom had been members of the board for many years. Particularly did he regret the absence of Mr G. Harper, who had rendered very great service indeed to the domains, and he hoped that Mr Harper would be re-elected by some local body. In a general statement Mr Beswick referred to the farsightedness of the pioneers of the province who had established Haglcy Park. He hoped that the ideals of the pioneers wonld inspire the members of the new board. The board was careful in its administration of the money obtained in rates from the local bodies. Although the board's bal-ance-sheet showed a debit amounting to £SBB, that would soon be rectified, as revenue would begin to come in almost at once. There wrre outstanding dues owing from the Waimairi County Council amounting to £32 10/-. Mr Beswick welcomed the new members of the board.

The report of the curator (Mr J. Young) stated that the catling of the hedges round the. park would be completed this week. The paths were being cleaned and renovated, and work in the propagating section of the nursery was well forward. ' The following committees were appointed:—Finance, Messrs J. Jamieson, McGregor Wright, A. McKellar, H. Holland, \V. .Nichoils and C. W. Hervey; Gardens, Dr C. Chilton, find Messrs A. Freeman, J. Jamieson, H. Eaglesome, J. F. Scott, E. J. Howard, E. F.
