NEW BRIGHTON TROTTING CLUB. CONCLUSION OF AUTUMN MEETING. A strong nor'-west wind, bringing with It clouds of dust, made matters rather unpleasant for the concluding day of the New Brighton Trotting Club's autumn meeting. There "was a very large attendance, many being attracted by the New Zealand Trotting Derby. The course was in very nice order, but the strong wind was against time recording; Details of the racing are:— SECOND AMATEUR HANDICAP "(harness), of 100 sovs. One mile and a-furlong.

Sandy Bell and Proud Elsie made the running into the back straight, where both stopped. Then Vilo took charge from Hutana, and the pair drew right away. Vilo was first into line for home and won comfortably by four lengths from Hutana. A dozen lengths back came Proud Elsie, followed by Sandy Bell and Valkyria. Sunrise piloted the field Into the back straight with Rita Rose and Ben Bell heading the others. A little further on Sunrise i broke, allowing Dragoon Jun. to take up the running. The latter was in front at the stand from Sunrise, Rita Rose and Miss Lorna. Dragoon Jun. looked to be winning easily till well into the home straight There Sunrise deposed him and won easily by eight lengths from Ben Bell, who was a length in front of Treasure Seeker. Captain Stanley, with Bundura bi close attendance, led the field out of the straight, and as they raced along the back the order was Captain Stanley, Bundura, Nancy Stair, aud Cora Dillon. There was little change in the positions all through the first niUe, at the end of which Captain Stanley was Just clear of Bundura, then in close order coming Cora Dillon, Nancy Stair, Pas, and Colenut. Once lnt6 the back stretch Captain .Stanley and Bundura lost their places to Cora Dillon, who soon opened up a useful lead. This she'; maintained all round the top turn; and till well into the home straight. There Nancy Stair closed .on her, and quickly having her measure won nicely by three lengths from Mintson. A bead back came Cora Dillon, followed by Hannah M. and Colenut. In the straight Pringlc checked him, and passing the stand Embracer had drawn to within six lengths, High Admiral already tailing olf. Embracer gradually improved his position, and at the half-mile post was only two lengths' to tlie bad. Racing round the top Locanda Dillon drew away again, and won with tlie greatest of ease by four lengths.
