Probate of the will of tlio late Mr John Connal was granted by his Honour Mr Justice Herdnian yesterday. i A number of public institutions | benefit under the will as follow: ! Canterbury College, £IOOO. The bequest Is i I<> lie used for Ihe purpose of providing for at least two scholarships of the annual value of £2(l each, to be known „is the John Connal Scholarships. The scholarships are to he awarded In connection with such of the following subjects as the board shall determine, viz., English. Latin, French, Mathematics, and History. In the event of the interest from the bequest not being used in any one amounts are to lie devoted to tITP establishment of another scholarship, to be awarded for the subject of economics. The above amount is to be augmented by an additional £IOOO upon the death of a beneficiary given a life interest in the estate. "Y M.C.A., £IOOO. This also to be augmented by an additional sum of £IOO upon the death of the same beneficiary. St Andrew's Presbyterian College, £IOOO, to be augmented by an additional £IOOO upon the death of the same beneficiary. Salvation Army of New Zealand, £IOOO. Sailors* institute, Lyttelton, £IOOO.
