LOCAL AND GENERAL.
The Rev. H. E. Bellhouse (president of the Methodist Conference) announced at this afternoon's session of the conference that ho had received a cheque for £IOO from C.W.O. for equal division between the Home and Foreign Mission Funds.
The Moeraki is bringing a Sydney mail which is expected to arrive in Christehurch tomorrow. The Makura, with an English and American mail, is due on Monday to arrive in Auckland. The outward mail by this vessel will probably close about March 15.
The Gisborne Soft Goods Employees' Union has filed a dispute with the employers in the industr3'. The union is asking for a wage of £5 per week for males in senior positions, and £3 10/for females in senior positions, and £0 10/- for heads of departments. The Conciliation Council will sit on April 2 to consider the dispute, and Mr R. D 7 Martin, of Christehurch, will conduct the case on behalf of the union.
