UNFAIR TACTICS.
The statement published by Prohibitionists in your issue of Wednesday is only another example of the unfair tactics by which they endeavour to throw dust in the eyes of the electors. The Licensed Victual* ' lers' Association throughout New Zealand has been working just as hard as the Prohibitionists to assist the registrars in their work of ensuring correct and complete rolls. This can be readily confirmed by inquiry from the various registrars. Moreover, at a recent meeting of certain Church dignitaries a similar charge was made, whereupon one of the Christchurch registrars, who was present, informed them that such a charge was unfair and absolutely without foundation. Further evidence of the work of the Licensed Victuallers' Association in this direction can be seen here in Christchurch, where they have placed tables in prominent positions for the purpose of assisting the enrolment of electors irrespective of their particular opinions, and we also take this opportunity to direct attention to the shop opened in the Exchange Building, Cathedral Square, where any inquiries with regard to registration, etc., are attended to daily. The Prohibitionists are not furthering their cause by- making such unfair and unfounded statements, and would be well advised to adopt such methods as would not lay them £j open to the charge of attempting to mislead your readers. .9
