CRICKET.
CANTERBURY ASSOCIATION. . A meeting of the committee of the Canterbury Cricket Association was held last evening, Mr D. Redpath presiding. There were also present Messrs W. Simpson, C. S. Thompson, A. Dey, R. B. Ward, M. O. Sinclair, and E. E. Luttrell. A copy of the proposed new constitution of the Board of Control of Lancaster Park, to be instituted if the Commercial Travellers' and Warehousemen's scheme for freeing the park of the debt succeeds, came up for diseussion. However, the only portion of it which was actually discussed was that intended to give the board power to let the ground on account, for sports or exhibitions other than cricket or Rugby football. Making special reference to Association football and Northern Union football, Mr Ward expressed the opinion that the terms of that particular clause were not wide enough. It was decided, by four votes to two, that Mr Ward should wait upon the Lancaster Park Board in connection with the. matter.
A cheque for £l9 3/3 yas received from the Wellington Cricket Association. This was Canterbury's one-third share of the net proceeds of the recent WellingtonCanterbury match in Wellington. At the time, the Wellington Association acknowledged receipt of £4O 7/8, its share of the profit in the match between the two associations which was played in Christchurch at Christmastime.
