He J >aid a tribute to the late Amir's oyalty to Great Britain, adding:— "Apparently he has been succeeded by his brother, Nasrulla Khan, who immediately sent the Government of India a Note couched in the most friendly and loyal terms. A suitable reply was sent. There is no reason to suppose that there will be any interruption of friendly relations between Great Britain and Afghanistan, whose independence it is desired to maintain."
