VETERANS' ASSOCIATION.

The annual meeting of the Veterans' Association of Navy, Army, and Auxiliaiy Forces was hehl on Saturday, in the rooms, "Worcester Street, the president, Mr D. Lee, being in the chair. There was a good attendance of members. The report showed an increase of membership, including two old veterans of the Maori War. The president stated that the association was open to soldiers of the late war when introduced by a member. The following officers for the year were elected:—Patron, Earl Liverpool; vice-patrons, Colonel Chaffey, Lieut.-Colonel Creswell and Colonel Christian; president, Mr D. Lee; vicepresidents, Messrs C. E. Gwatkin, W. Grenfell, R. O. Dougln, B. Eastwood, F. Chittock; hon. secretary, H. Macintosh; hon. treasurer, C. E. Gwatkin; auditors, M. Hartigan and S. F. Wilson; committee, Messrs A. J. Hahn, AV. Ross, J. Thompson, 11. S. Alpe, W. Kerr, H. Rogers, R. Scales. Lieut.-Colonel Creswell donated a prize for the new billiard tournament. Mr J. Stinnear reported on the regular visitation of the Crimean and Maori War veterans, who were all very well at present. It was resolved to take active part in the celebrations when peace was declared. The following resolution was passed: "The association resents the deliberate attempt of politicians and others to introduce Bolshevism and other anarchistic ideas into this country, and being composed of loyal citizens (amongst us are men who have fought for their country in all parts of the world during the last 60 years), we protest against these attempts to wreck our Constitution, that has taken centuries to acquire; we do not want the state of chaos that exists at the present time in certain parts of Europe."
