REFORMATORY ESCAPEES.
THE SECOND GIRL ARRESTED. Alice Maria Young, the girl, who, in company with another girl, Evelyn May Fluerty, escaped from the Salvation Army Reformatory Home, Panama Road, on Sunday, February 23, was arrested by Detective-Sergeant Connolly, in Christchurch, yesterday, and was brought before Messrs H, J. Crowther and C. D. Morris, J.P.'s, at the Magistrate's Court this morning, charged with having escaped from" the home. A charge of the theft of an overcoat, valued at £4 4/-, the property of Mary Paterson, at Ashburton, on January 13, last, was also preferred; against accused. Chief-Detective Mcllveney asked for: a remand until March 13, as there was CL another charge pending against, the accused. The remand was granted accordingly. Young was committed to the Homo for a term of two years, on a charge of theft. She escaped soon after her committal. Fluerty was sentenced to 9 month's imprisonment for escaping. Her term of reformative treatment was one year.
